Japanese Architectural Estate
Logic Integration provided a robust system for this Japanese Architectural Estate included AV, Lighting Control, Enterprise-Grade Network, and Motorized Shades. Finalizing all infrastructure elements established during the initial setup and providing the client with an easy-to-use, highly integrated system for controlling lighting, AV, security, access, and climate. In alignment with Logic Integration's values and mission, this project emphasized delivering quality, simplicity, and a user-centered experience in a unique, architecturally distinctive residence.

The primary challenge was maintaining the Japanese minimalist aesthetic while integrating complex AV, lighting, and control solutions. Every component required careful placement and programming to blend seamlessly with the interior design. In addition, accommodating various lighting, security, and video distribution requirements into one cohesive system required precise configuration. Logic also faced logistical challenges in deploying high-voltage lighting control and power-intensive AV equipment, which demanded cooperation with certified electricians to ensure both safety and code compliance. Finally, implementing robust network coverage across the entire property presented technical hurdles given the estate’s size and architecture.
To meet the client’s goals without disrupting the home’s aesthetic, Logic selected Control4’s streamlined in-wall keypads, touch panels, and hand-held remotes, allowing functionality without overwhelming the space visually. Each device was strategically concealed or flush-mounted to maintain clean lines and simplicity. In terms of high-voltage integration, Logic coordinated closely with licensed electricians to support seamless installations and ensure compliance. To tackle network reliability across the residence, Logic deployed an Araknis network, creating a robust backbone capable of handling multiple devices and ensuring consistent connectivity across all zones. The outdoor and landscape AV systems were also carefully installed to provide maximum coverage with minimal visibility.
- Control System: The Control4 system serves as the foundation for home automation, unifying the control of all integrated systems. It includes in-wall touch panels, hand-held remotes, and mobile app functionality, allowing the homeowner to manage lighting, AV, security, shades, and climate controls from anywhere within the home or remotely.
- Audio and Video Distribution: An IP-based video distribution system connects Apple TV, cable boxes, and Blu-ray players to multiple displays in the home. Using Control4 and Binary 900 Series HD distribution over IP, video can be routed to high-definition displays in the master bedroom, rec room, and living room. The audio distribution network, powered by Origin Acoustics speakers, includes both indoor ceiling-mounted speakers and an outdoor landscape audio system with 6.1 and 4.1 configurations, delivering rich sound in every environment.
- Lighting and Shading: The lighting control system combines panelized controls with smart switches, allowing flexibility and easy adaptation to the home’s lighting zones. Control4 dimmers, adaptive phase dimmers, and engraved keypads ensure tailored lighting control across various rooms and scenes. Screen Innovations motorized shades were installed to provide privacy and light management, particularly in the master bedroom and living areas, and are integrated into Control4 for remote or automated adjustment.
- Surveillance and Security: Luma surveillance cameras provide 360-degree coverage around the property, capturing high-resolution video footage stored on a networked video recorder (NVR) with expandable storage. Security includes a Control4-compatible garage door opener, Ring Elite video doorbells, and automated locks, offering robust access control. Notifications are sent directly to the homeowner’s device for remote monitoring.
- Network Infrastructure: A whole-home Araknis network provides the backbone for all smart systems, designed to support the estate’s large-scale network needs. This includes dedicated wireless access points for full coverage, ensuring stable connectivity across all devices.
Upon completion, the Japanese Architectural Estate became a model of integrated smart home functionality with a system that enhances daily living while remaining unobtrusive. The home’s extensive network of AV, security, and lighting systems is controlled effortlessly through Control4 interfaces, providing the homeowner with maximum flexibility and peace of mind. The audio distribution, tailored to both indoor and outdoor spaces, ensures immersive sound while preserving the natural beauty of the landscape. Logic’s attention to detail and thoughtful installation allowed for a balance of modern technology with traditional design, delivering a space that is as functional as it is visually harmonious.
